Abstract:
The Chagan Tolgoi gold deposit is situated in the composite area of the Khovd accretionary wedge and the Great Lake Basin island arc belt in western Mongolia. Gold mineralization is mainly of the auriferous quartz vein type, accompanied by quartz stockwork alteration zones on both sides of and at depth along the quartz veins. Orebodies occur in the contact zone between Middle–Late Ordovician diorite and biotite amphibole granite, and are jointly controlled by NE-trending faults and magmatic activity. The mining area has favorable metallogenic geological conditions and distinct prospecting criteria. Research on orebody prediction plays an important role in guiding the layout of exploration projects and achieving prospecting breakthroughs. Based on the study of the geological characteristics of the deposit and guided by the theory of orebody positioning prediction using comprehensive information, geological interpretation was carried out on data from high-precision magnetic survey and soil geochemical survey. Combined with metallogenic geological conditions, geological, geophysical and geochemical prospecting criteria for gold deposits were extracted, and prospecting prediction research was conducted. Three prospecting prediction areas available for engineering verification were delineated, providing a scientific basis for the layout of subsequent exploration projects.
