Abstract:

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) can improve outdoor geological mapping. However, applications of UAV in the investigations of gold districts remain to be explored. The Liba Gold District is located in the western Qinling orogenic belt. The typical open-pit gold district development pattern and the peripheral landscape are favorable natural fields to explore UAV application to outdoor deposit geological mapping. Here, lightweight UAV-based aerial photogrammetry was performed to get the photos in the degrees from the whole landscape of the mining district to the level profiling outcrop in the Liba Gold District. With the help of outdoor fieldwork, alteration zoning and faults in Liba Gold Deposit can be interpreted, both from the macro to micro scale.Based on the further explanation of the geological characteristics,a UAV geological mapping workflow is established. The work is an active exploration of UAV aerial photogrammetry application to outdoor practice and can greatly promote the understanding and interpretation of regional geology during outdoor field mapping.
