The kilometer-level ultra-deep shaft is characterized by great ground stress, high ground temperature, and complex stratum crossing conditions, making it difficult for the drilling and blasting excavation to drill and blast the rock, causing low blast hole utilization, and poor quality of shaft wall formation. To achieve rapid drilling and blasting of the shaft under high stress and hard surrounding rock conditions,in a case study of the drilling and blasting excavation in the bedrock section of an ultra-deep shaft in a gold mine in Shandong Province, through the analysis and research of the blasting design parameters such as initiation mode, detonator type, and blast hole design, this paper puts forward the medium-long hole blasting parameters suitable for the bedrock section of the large-diameter ultra-deep shaft. The field practice shows that the optimization of blasting design parameters solves the problems of shaft contour forming, fragmentation, and over and under excavation, and realizes the rapid excavation of large-diameter ultra-deep shafts.
