Abstract:

Uranium mining and processing generate a large amount and various types of low-concentration uranium-containing wastewater, which seriously threatens the ecological environment of mining areas and the physical and mental health of residents. This paper briefly describes the characteristics of uranium wastewater and summarizes the current status of the research on the treatment technologies for wastewater at home and abroad as well as their advantages and disadvantages, including chemical precipitation, adsorption, membrane filtration, ion exchange, evaporation concentration, extraction, permeable reactive barrier technology, microbial remediation technology, phytoremediation technology, photocatalytic reduction technology, and combined treatment technologies. It is believed that multidisciplinary integration (chemistry, biology, physics, materials, etc.) is a new approach to breakthrough the key technologies for the treatment of low-concentration uranium-containing wastewater.
