High ground stress is an inevitable challenge in deep mining. To ensure safe and efficient mining operations in the high-stress environment of Xincheng Gold Mine, the Swedish LUT ground stress measurement instrument was used.A total of 6 borehole cores at the -830 m,-930 m,and -1030 m levels of Xincheng Gold Mine were measured using the stress relief method. The LUT-str dedicated rock stress calculation program was employed for comprehensive analysis of the test results.Stereographic projection software was used to create stereographic projection diagrams of the principal stress directions at the measurement points, and linear regression was applied for regression analysis of the stress values from the 6 measured points. The research result shows that the ground stress field in Xincheng Gold Mine is primarily horizontal tectonic stress. The surrounding rock in the mining area contains numerous joints and fissures, leading to more fragmented and weathered rock after excavation, which makes phenomena like spalling more likely. Therefore, timely support is recommended after excavation. This study provides fundamental data and references for safe construction of deep shafts, rational support design, and deep mining operations, while also serving as a model for shaft excavation and mining in similar mines.
