Gold leaching tailings contain various valuable elements such as gold and copper, posing challenges in their treatment.Traditional chlorination roasting can effectively extract valuable elements from gold leaching tailings, but it requires high temperatures, consumes coal and natural gas,and emits large amounts of CO2 and flue gases. Therefore,a new method of microwave chlorination roasting was proposed, featuring low temperature and environmental friendliness. The effects of microwave power, type of chlorinating agent, temperature, and CaCl2 dosage on indicators such as gold volatilization rate and chlorine removal rate were studied. The results not only elucidate the mechanism of microwave chlorination roasting but also assess the toxicity of the roasting slag.Compared to traditional methods, microwave chlorination roasting significantly reduces the content of toxic elements.
