Optimization of the gold refining process by liquid chlorination and its practice

Abstract:

The quality of liquid chlorination gold powder is affected by many factors in chlorination leaching and reduction stage.In view of the high content of silver impurity in gold powder in Zhongyuan Gold Smelter,which affects the quality of subsequent gold ingots,the influence factors such as hydrochloric acid concentration,temperature and redox potential were investigated.The optimum technological conditions were obtained through smallscale experiments and production practice.That is,the mass concentration of hydrochloric acid is 100 g/L,the leaching temperature is 85 ℃~90 ℃,the terminal redox potential is 690-700 mV,and the reduction temperature is 55 ℃-57 ℃.The reduced gold powder was washed successively with chlorinecontaining additive solution and hot water.Under these conditions,the gold powders with impurity silver content less than 10×10-6  and gold content greater than 99.998 % can be obtained.It meets the requirement of Gold No.1 of the National Standard.
