Abstract:

To study the feasibility to use gold ore tailings for the preparation of Portland cement,4 Portland cements were prepared with altered rock gold ore tailings as raw material. The calcination temperature, clinker phases, physical properties and hydration products of the Portland cements were investigated respectively. The results show that the optimum calcination temperature of Portland cements preparation is 1 450 ℃;the phases of 4 cement clinker materials are C3S,C2S,C3A and C4AF,and the hydration products are all calcium silicate hydrate gels, ettringite and calcium hydroxide;the flexural and compressive strengths of the Portland cements increased first and then decreased with the increase of the gold ore tailings addition, and when the mass ratio of the gold ore tailings, limestone, clay, iron corrective agent is 6.00∶86.11∶4.60∶3.29,the flexural and compressive strengths of cement are the highest, meeting the standard of 52.5 grade Portland cement. This study broadens the approach for the resource utilization of gold ore tailings and provides a supplement for the traditional siliceous cement raw materials.
