Experimental study on the electrodeposition of high copper barren solution in a gold smelter

Abstract:

A great deal of high copper barren solution is generated during cyanidation process of gold concentrates in a gold smelter,the cycled use of which affects gold leaching.The experiment adopts electrodeposition to recover copper from high copper barren solution.By investigating the influence of temperature,electric current density,electrolysis auxiliaries,pH,reaction time,cathode material on electric current efficiency and copper recovery rate,the optimal electrodeposition process parameters are determined.Under the optimal conditions,copper mass concentration in high copper barren solution drops from 8 707.44 mg/L to 1 519.25 mg/L,and the copper mass fraction in products obtained is 96.89 %.
