The Zhanghai Gold Deposit is located in the southeast margin of Yinzu pluton in the high ore concentration area of southeastern Hubei,in the middle lower reaches of Yangtze River, and is a disseminated gold deposit occurring in sedimentary rocks. The host rock is carbonaceous siltstone and shale of the Xintan Formation of Lower Silurian. The gold ore bodies occurs as vein, stratiform and lenticular shape in secondary NEEtrending faults, fissures and fracture zones near the core of Yinzu complex anticline which strikes NEE and inclines SSE,with dip angles of 30°-60° and the maximum length and vertical depth of 640 m and 688 m respectively.Diorite porphyry is widely developed in the upper and lower walls. The main types of gold ore are disseminated and veinlet(stockwork) goldbearing siltstone-shale type.Silicification, pyritization and arsenopyrite alteration are closely related to gold mineralization.Based on the comprehensive analysis of ore-controlling factors,it is considered that the gold deposit is controlled by strata with high gold background, reducing environment, content of carbonaceous minerals, relatively closed and other characteristics, secondary NEEtrending faults, fissures and fracture zones in the core of anticline, and diorite porphyry magmatism, and belongs to disseminated gold deposit in the distal part of magmatic hydrothermal system. The paper evaluates the prospecting potential of the Zhanghai Gold District and its periphery, and puts forward 6 important prospecting directions in Zhanghai Gold District and the Meirenjian-Zhanghai-Fengtou gold metallogenic belt, which provides a new idea for regional gold exploration.
