Abstract:

A small amount of silver will be lost when fire assay is used to determine silver content. The study determines the calibration coefficient of silver content and the recovery rate of pure silver in fire assay referring to the loss of pure silver in fusion and cupellation,so that the silver content determination results are calibrated. The experiments investigated mass ratio of gold and silver, impurity elements, cupellation loss of pure silver respectively, and ruled out factors possibly affecting determination results.3 samples with different properties were tested in terms of their precision and accuracy to verify the applicability of the method. The results show that calibrated by the method, accurate and reasonable determination results can be obtained.
