Abstract:
In order to explore the leaching characteristics of ore from a gold deposit in Sudan, process mineralogy studies were conducted, and 4 ore samples from different depth were subjected to agitation leaching, roll bottle leaching, and column leaching tests using environmentally friendly leaching agents. In the agitation leaching tests, the leaching rates of ore from different depth were above 90 % and 85 % respectively under ore particle sizes of P
80=75 μm and P
80=150 μm. In the roll bottle leaching tests, the leaching rate of the surface ore was above 70 % under an ore particle size of P
80=4.5 mm, while the leaching rate of the deep ore was less than 50 %. In the column leaching tests, the leaching rates of the surface ore were above 55 % and 65 % respectively under ore particle sizes of P
80=6 mm and P
80=10 mm, while the leaching rates of the deep ore were less than 40 % and 30 % respectively. The results indicate that the surface ore of this deposit has a feasible heap leaching potential, while the deep ore is suitable for the agitation leaching process.
